최성은 목사는 한국 침례교신학대학(B.A)과 루이빌 켄터키에 소재한 남침례 신학 대학원(The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary)에서 Master of Divinity를 졸업했다. 2004년 James I. Packer, John Stott, David Johns등과의 인터뷰를 가졌으며, 동 대학원에서 “An Analysis of John R.W. Stott’s Theology and Practice of Evangelism” 란 논문으로 Ph.

Pastoral experience

Pastor Sung Eun Choi graduated from the Korean Baptist Seminary earning his BA and from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary located in Louisville, Kentucky earning his Master of Divinity. In 2004 he interviewed James I. Packer, John Stott and David Johns and received his Ph. D after writing his thesis on “An Analysis of John R.W. Stott’s Theology and Practice of Evangelism”.

In Korea he served as the director of youth and young adults at Suwon Central Baptist Church and in 1995 he came to America and served in the Louisville area driving great distances to serve at English based groups as well as immigrant churches in the north, south, east and west areas for 8 years. As a member of the Southern Baptist Convention and International Mission Board he was sent to Nashville, Tennessee where he planted ‘Bridge Community Church’ with his wife Su Jin Choi who has her Ph. D in Education & Leadership, they also started a praise conference entitled “Rise Up International Ministry” for 2nd generationers of various ethnical backgrounds, also he started a reconciliation program for 1st and 2nd generations, as well as a downtown homeless ministry.

A sermon series on the gospel and evangelism, a bible study on life and worship reformation, a ministry for all nations and international missions, broken church, relief and aid ministry and cell groups are some of the topics he is interested in. A great theologian is one whose flowers bloom in the ministry and acts on that conviction, and an influential theologian has a great philosophy. But above all, I pray that all the church’s on this earth will together bring everyone to God in heaven.

Life experience

His family consists of his wife Su Jin Choi whom he met at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and his two children born in America Crystal and Noah. Even though he likes to eat anything and everything, his favorite food is Korean country style food as well as seafood, and he likes to play team sports that work up a sweat.

To sum it up, he is scholarly in the fact that he likes to sit and read and research every day, however he also likes to travel, listen to music, praise, watch family movies with his children and preach.

Though he likes non-masculine colors such as pink and purple, he also likes masculine colors such as black, white and navy blue. He contains both an introverted personality when he’s alone and praying, but also a very extroverted personality when it comes to leading. He has a lot of tears when it comes to prayer but he tries to keep his cool-headedness, just as the word that God gave to Joshua to not spread roots to the left or right, his motto is to never change when it comes to his ministry. At one time he was proud to have a great sense of humor, but after getting married he didn’t smile very often and his wife would always remind him to smile, he regrets the loss of his sense of humor. However, the innocent and bright smiles, and the ‘amens’ that are called out during my sermons from the Tacoma First Baptist Church members are helping me to recover.
